Modern ImpressionistThe personal life and times of an Artist and Mother March 01 Gallery Opening for Women of The Arts Community of Easton, PA
WOMEN OF ACE GALLERY SHOW
In Celebration of International Women's Month
Connexions Gallery, Easton, PA
Opening Saturday March 7, 6-9 pm This year, our first ACE group show is for the women of ACE only. It is in celebration of International Women's Month. The theme this year corresponds with the Green Movement, celebrating women who take the lead in saving the planet. The pieces featured in the show are to represent our voices as women, artists and individuals conscious of the world. For more information on the show, please visit: http://www.connexionsgallery.net/ and the ACE official site: http://www.eastonart.net/ My particular piece which was accepted for this juried show is entitled, "Old Lady" which was actually created when I was a student in Studio Art in High School. It is an original watercolor, on canvas board; and I feel is more of a "character analysis" of the subject.
I hope to see some of you at the opening! August 09 Computer MeltdownI am back online finally....It took me this long because my previous cpu died.....for once I could not fix it. I was lucky enough to get one from my brother for next to nothing....then after I got it all set up, I screwed up something with internet explorer, and I had to send it back to him for repair.
I am finally set up, and able to now catch up on all of my artwork things, update my sites and pictures, etc.
Thank God I had alot of files already backed up when I started having problems. This is the bit of important advice I can give anyone out there with an older system- back up everything that is important to you!
It is frustrating to me that alot of people out there do not realize the necessity now a days of having a computer in the home. I use mine not only for personal use, but for my art business. I get criticized alot for the time I spend often on mine, but I not only need it, I have to have it for my artwork; and it is often sometimes the only "outlet" to the outside world I have. I have been home with my four year old since she was born, and have been able to get back into my artwork since I have not been working. I now have a direction to work towards in my life.
I am a true "computer geek", and am not ashamed to admit it. March 30 Mylot.com For anyone who likes to make a few extra dollars giving your opinion, writing about things you are interested in, and getting paid for it, please check out my Mylot.com site:
They just added some new features like commenting on blogs written by the Associated Press, and revamped the home pages. It is pretty cool, and allows you to talk with others without fearing what people will say about your opinions. Give it a try! March 27 SPRING HAS SPRUNG!! I look so forward to the Springtime.....today it is going to be over 70 degrees here....and it's time for me to get my garden ready to start growing. This is something else which helps me to relax, and get my mind off of stressful things; not to mention good exercise! My four year old loves to help me too. In the summer, I am outside every day that it is nice. I love to work in the heat, get some sun. I could do that 24 hrs a day if I could.
This is the time where I also start doing hand painted wood crafts in preparation for the arts and craft fairs that come up starting in a few months. This year, I am going to concentrate on doing some birdhouses, and hand painted clay pots. I sold a few pots last year, and seem to be a popular item for other fellow garden enthusiasts. This is a good time to work on items like these, because it is easy to do the initial painting and priming outside without having to worry about inhaling the fumes. As I complete these projects, I will post them here and on my yahoo 360 site....stay tuned; and happy gardening! March 26 My Story I would like to give my readers some background on my life.....My parents were divorced when I was seven, and then I lived with my mother. We were very close, until I met my now ex-husband, who caused alot of friction between us. I went off to college after graduation, and decided to get back together with him. Because of a stupid mistake, I was not able to complete my education at Georgetown University. I did attend for two years, and did very well. I studied French and Fine Art.
After having two children and struggling with an abusive marriage, I ended the relationship. It was very hard for me to be a single mother, but I soon found a man who treated me the way I wanted to be treated...I am still with him now, after almost nine years. We now have a four year old; who brings me love and joy every day. My now fifteen year old daughter is a blessing, does very well in school, and is alot like me. It is hard for me to believe the time has gone so fast, and she is almost grown.....
My son, on the other hand, has been a nightmare to our entire family. He is now in a Residential Treatment Facility after spending seven months in Theraputic Foster Care. He has been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, as well as other mental illnesses. He had become such a danger to my family, he had to be removed from my home. My life has been so much better since he has been out of the house, and I have been able to concentrate on things I want and need to do; such as my artwork. It provides me an escape from stresses in my life, and is something I do for me and only me. It is my dream to one day go back to school for a Fine Art Degree, and possibly study to become a Graphic Artist. To me, this would combine my love for art as well as computers. I am also a "computer geek". I would of course continue painting, but I hope to someday find and be able to perform some kind of job in the art field. Places on the web where you can find my artwork for sale.
